If you’re like me, and love looking up useless basketball stuff, you know about CBS Sports’ Dunk-o-meter… it tracks the total number of dunks in the season by every single player in the NBA. This is a stat I love looking at, and why wouldn’t I, I love dunks.
Well, I thought… let me check how many dunks these guys get per game. My man Andrew Bynum is ranked 25th in dunks with 77 on the season.. but he played a little more than half the season. Lebron James is ranked 15th with 98 dunks, but he played nearly every game. Dunks per game would better show how often a guy dunks.
Then I thought, even better… how about dunks per minute? I had one guy in mind, a dunk MACHINE who I figured would be at the top of the list.. and I wasn’t wrong. You’ll see.
So I went along and calculated each player’s dunks per game and per minute. For ‘per minute’, I will rank players by dunks per 36min, and as a different way to look at it, how many minutes it takes them to get 1 dunk (for example, Player A gets 1 dunk for every 10 minutes he’s out there).
452 players played at least a minute this year - 348 of them (77%) had at least one dunk. As an arbitrary qualifier to make my job easier, players need at least 20 dunks this season to be included in these ranking - 144 players qualified. And out of those players, I’ll be listing the top 20 players in total dunks, dunks per game, and dunks per minute.
Here we go.

There you have it. The top dunkers of the 2010-2011 season, by total dunks, dunks per game, and dunks per minute. I knew Jeremy Evans had to be #1 in dunks per minute… the man is a pogo stick out there. He gets a dunk for basically every 10 minutes he’s on the court… absurd.
